I often find myself coaching clients who notice themselves operating on autopilot day in day out. Whether in the workplace or at home, there is rarely a pause in the day that they notice.

I don't have this whole thing called life sorted, however I do have intentional moments in my day and through my week and I wanted to share some of them with you in this blog post.

My absolute favourite is a short yoga nidra...this is a guided meditation done lying down, with breathing, body scan and some visualisation. There are lots available and this is one that is 14 minutes and specifically for the afternoon. I love this one and sometimes sleep briefly and sometimes don't. Either way I feel refreshed afterwards and ready for the rest of the day.

Other mindful moments are:

  • Taking 3 deep breaths in a transition in the day eg pulling up in the driveway at home, before making a phone call, before getting out of the car.
  • Gratitude for the day ahead. Listing 3 things that I am grateful for as I wake up.
  • Closing my eyes and checking in with my five senses:
    • what do I hear?
    • what do I smell?
    • what do I taste?
    • what do I feel?
    • open my eyes...what do I see?
  • Having a long hug with my partner or a family member.
  • Intentional movement. I love going for a walk as some thinking time. Mindful movement.

Do any of these mindful moments resonate with you? What do you do for mindful moments?
